After getting the Milltek cat back exhaust system, and with K04 turbos on order, the next logical step seemed to be to sort out the rest of the exhaust system. The only problem was,
Milltek didn’t make any downpipes! A few enquiries and some arm-twisting later, and Milltek agreed to develop some, provided they could borrow an S4 to model them on. No problem - mine was off the road
anyhow, so away it went.
The development was by all accounts pretty tricky, due to the fact that the car is right hand drive. It apparently makes fitting downpipes really awkward. They persevered, and
I reckon the result is well worth it. No pre-cats, just a pair of high flow, 100 cell, metal matrix main cats, and pipes optimised for maximum flow. I don’t know whether Milltek do any kind of audio
tuning on their exhausts, but this system now sounds incredible! Click here for an MP3 sound file, or here for a lower quality .wav version. It’s much louder than the cat back, especially above 5000rpm where it has ability to scare the pants off whatever you’re going past!
